Dr. Dilip Nathwani is an Honorary Emeritus Professor of Infection at the University of Dundee, Scotland.
Dr. Nathwani served as the Chairman of Scotland’s National Clinical Antimicrobial Stewardship Programme (SAPG) from 2008 to 2017. He was the Chair of the European Study Group on Antibiotic Policies (ESGAP-ESCMID) from 2011 to 2014 and served as the President of the British Society for Antimicrobial Chemotherapy (BSAC) between 2015 and 2018. Dr. Nathwani was also the External Advisor on Antimicrobial Stewardship & Education Policy to a number of professional societies, government, and non-UK governmental bodies including the World Health Organisation.
In 2015, Dr. Nathwani was awarded the Order of the British Empire (OBE) by Her Majesty the Queen for outstanding services to the treatment of Infectious Diseases. He was also awarded the prestigious fellowship of the European Society of Clinical Microbiology and Infectious diseases (ESCMID) in 2020 for long and outstanding and excellent contributions to the society and specialty. In 2021, he was elected as Fellow to the prestigious Royal Society of Edinburgh (FRSE).
Dr. Nathwani has authored more than 265 peer-reviewed publications in the fields of e-learning education in AMS, value-based healthcare, evaluation of value of new antibiotics, quality improvement and implementation science, guidelines, and policy, particularly in the field of antimicrobial stewardship and AMR.
