Dr. Sumit Rai is a Professor and Head of the Department of Clinical Microbiology at the All-India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Mangalagiri, India.

Dr. Rai also coordinates and conducts the Advanced Antimicrobial Stewardship Program (AMSP) Hands-on Workshop at AIIMS-Mangalagiri. He serves on the Editorial Board of the Indian Journal of Medical Microbiology.

He has authored 49 research publications and two book chapters and has delivered more than 75 national and international guest lectures. He has received two IAMM National Awards for Best Paper in Bacteriology and two IAMM Delhi Chapter Awards for Best Papers in AMR and AST.

Dr. Rai’s research interests include AMR, antimicrobial susceptibility testing (AST), WHONET Antimicrobial Stewardship, parasitology, and infectious diseases.
